Vladimir Mateyko ( Владимир Матейко )

Vladimir Matiyko was born in 1954 in Beelitz, Germany. In 1973 he

finished The Republican Secondary Art School in Kiev, Ukraine. In

1983 graduated Estonian State Institute of Arts in Tallinn,

specializing in painting. Vladimir exhibits his works since 1978. He

has taken part in many various exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad:

Ukraine, Poland, Canada, USA, The Netherlands and others. He has

arranged tree personal exhibitions. In 1992 Vladimir received an

award from Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, aine, USA.

For 9 weeks he had worked in this school.

Vladimir describes his art as symbolic realism. He says that time

does not exists in art. The past is as urgent as present. We can

communicate to any culture whereas from past or present and

promote a fruitful dialogue. Precisely from this mutual dialogue

symbolic forms emerge; we rediscover the meanings of these

cultures as well as we disclose the sense of our life. Ultimately it's

the same .
